Like always The Commish here will whittle your team down to one player I feel best represents your first half for better or for worse...With 10 points separating 2nd and 8th spot it is still wide open as teams fluctuate daily...Here We Go (in Draft Order):
2013 Mid Season Review
Winston Pickle Backman - 5th Place, Brett Gardner
Winston has had a solid opening half to the season getting as high as second after starting off a bit slow. Gardner has bounced back nicely from his injury and like Jeff looks fully healthy this year. While not a superstar he contributes all around and if A-Rod, Jeter and others turn it on for the Yanks he could help push Jeff into the free eat discussion. Also it feels good to give him a Yankee... Bird DL Pockets - 6th Place, AJ Burnett
Birdie had been holding his own for most of the first half in the free eats discussion but lately has moved into this Mid Table Mega Pack that will probably see fluctuation right until the last day of the year. Burnett was amazing to start the season for the pirates then got hurt, can he help the 'Rats to the playoffs for the first time in forever? Can he Help Birdie to a top 3 finish? BK Highpockets Kelly - 2nd Place, David Wright
Easiest pick on the board, the perennial champ had lead for most of the first half but still is in striking distance for the title in second place. Captain America just keeps doing what he does best, ranked 22nd overall and having an All-Star worthy year. Moon No-No Homers Club - 7th Place, Josh Hamilton
Both Hamilton and Moon started off the season miserably and both have turned it on as of late. Moon has joined the Mid Table Mega Pack and has a good a shot as any to jump onto the top of the table. Hamilton just wants to jump on the bar for body shots...and raise his average 200 points in the process. He can and may, so may Moon...a dangerous team sitting in 7th here. Mike A-Town HighPockets - 1st Place, Adam Wainwright
Ryniec has been in command since overtaking BK and he has separated himself from the heard as of late. Wainwright has fully established himself as a dominant ace and besides Matt Harvey the best pitcher in the NL (HArvey is 6th overall Wainwright is 8th) Always consistent always in the hunt, The Cardinals behind Wainwright and The A-Town's behind Mike...can they both hold up? God I fucking hope not. Bull B-Town HighPockets - 4th Place, Buster Posey
He may be named after a flower but he is tough as nails, he may be a ballerina but he is tough to insult as he always makes a strong case for the top of Rockem. Bull has been in the mix since the beginning and remains so now, Posey just keeps putting up great numbers at a weak position and justifies a high draft slot. Of course Bull's match is from San Fran... Wilson The Spearmint Rhino's - 3rd Place, Bobby Parnell
The man has always had potential and some people saw it this year, he is capitalizing on it and is a hot topic come this trade deadline...I could be describing Wilson in Rockem or Parnell on the Mets. A dominant closer who is looking to help Wilson close in on his first Rockem Title...he has a real shot assuming one doesn't get traded and one remembers to look at his team all summer. Vig Italian Stallions - 9th Place, Domonic Brown
When Vig's team got hotter then a burning coal in Georgia on the 4th of July he had the Domonic One to thank, he rode his early season electric bat up the rockem scales unfortunately Brown has cooled off (326 ranking the last 14 days) and with it Jay's team has fallen back down. Not putting it past either of them to rise again though. McNally F'd In My Eye Sockets 10th Place - Dan Haren
Donny loves him some Haren, and while Danny boy didn't start off the year terribly (like Don's team) he sure has stunk out the joint lately. Going to take a lot of work for Mr. Low WHIP to get back in Fantasy good graces, and lots of luck for Don's team to contend in the second half as he is out side the big clump of teams and looking in. SPD Sand In My Pujols 8th Place - Tom Wilhelmsen
The Bartender was shutting out the lights and sending them home amazingly to start things out in '13 as was The Commish at the top of the league for the first few months, just behind BK. Then The Bartender went on an epic bender and lost his job thus losing control of the top of rockem. While plummeting he worked on his self control, picked up a hottie (Puig) and has moved back into the last spot in the stacked Mid Table Mega Pack with a shot at free eats still very attainable. He got his closing gig back in Seattle and has looked sharp since, but is he one bender away from disaster or a magical run? Wait and see... Tom Latos Tolerant 12th Place - David Price
oooof, what could have been. Price was poised for a Cy Young contending year and he has been pretty worthless. Tom's whole team has dissapointed, but the ace arm at top sums it up best...whole lotta nothing. Fatty Dogzilla 11th Place - John Lester
Another player down in the dumps and needing a miracle in the second half...like beating cancer. Lester may have escaped the Big Casino, but he can't seem to escape guys with bats in their hands, a 4.58 ERA says it all, Lester has been pretty god awful so far in 2013, as has Fatones squad in general.
2013 AllStarBreak
This year was special come All-Star Time, Don't believe me? Check out this link!Half the league attended some form of the All-Star Weekend that MLB threw in Queens. It was a ton of fun and worth every penny.
That being done and dusted it is time to look back at the first half of the season with our Mid Season Review for 2013.
